Montenegro literally means 'Black Mountain'. This 'Black Mountain' is situated in Southeastern Europe, in the south of the Adriatic. This small country covers the surface of some 14, 000 square kilometers and has only about 670,000 citizents. Its capital is Podgorica.  
Podgorica lies in a mainly flat area in central Montenegro. The city is crossed with rivers and richness in bodies of water is a major feature of the city. Podgorica is served by Podgorica Airport which is located 10 kilometers south of the city centre. Podgorica Airport is Montenegro's main international airport. There are regular flights to Podgorica from Belgrade, London, Zagreb, Rome, Vienna and many other cities, so the transfer from major European cities to Montenegro's capital should not be a problem. Public transport in Podgorica is comprised of numerous bus lines. But the taxicb sevice is also well-organised. You can always book a taxi. The distances in Montenegro are not very big, so taxis can take you all over the country. Montenegro also offers other interesting destinations such as Kotor. How far is Kotor from the busy beach resort Budva? Kotor lies some 22 kilometers up the Adriatic coast from Budva? If you want to know how to get there, you should know that the easiest way is to travel by road from Podgorica or Budva.  
Kotor has been a UNESCO heritage site since 1979. Despite being hit by earthquakes, Kotor is well preserved medieval town. The attractions of this beautiful town owe much to its setting at the end of the Gulf of Kotor which is surrounded by cliffs and steep-sloped hills. You should not miss the view from the Fortress of St John and the city walls.
