Italy is a beutiful European country, located on the Italian Peninsula. It borders France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia. It is interesting that two independent states, San Marino and the Vatican City are enclaves within the Italian teritory. This South European country is home to the greatest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. All around the country you can see numerous monuments and pieces of art.
Italy has a long history. It has been the cradle of many European cultures and peoples. Later, Italy was an important Reneissance centre, and its capital, Rome, was the centre of Western civilization for centuries. Rome is also known as the“Eternal City“; it is the famed city of the seven hills. Rome is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It can be said that Rome is comprised of two cities- ancient and modern. Not a single visitor has ever left Rome disappointed. Rome has it all – ancient ruins, historic churches, art of the dolce vita...
Rome is served by two airports- Leonardo da Vinci/ Fiumicino International Airport and Ciampino International Airport. The first one is very well connected to the city centre by public transportation. Ciampino Airport is much smaller and also much closer to the city centre. From Fiumicino airport there are two train lines that can get you to into Rome. From Ciampino airport there are few direct bus services one of which includes sit bus shuttle. If you want to know how much time the ride will take, you should know that it takes approximately 40 minutes. But as far as private airport transportation is concerned, you can always consider booking a taxi. Taxis in Rome are white. Both Rome airports are outside the city limits, so you can always consider airport limousine service or chauffeur service.
However, Rome is not the only hot spot of this Mediterranean country.
Venice, a 'floating' city is a place where you can see Murano, Burano, Torcello, the Lido as well as many other attractions. Do not miss a water taxi.
But the soul of Italy is definitely Florence. Its centre still looks and feels like the lete-medieval city state it once was. It has an overwhelming range of galleries and fabulous buildings. Its heart is the perfect Gothic masterpiece, the Duomo. Florence is the birthplace of Renaissance architecture. Venice and Florence are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
It would be impossible to list all the hot spots of Italy.
You should know that Italians are very proud of their cuisine. And they certainly have a reason for that. The modern Italian cuisine evolved through centuries and nowadays it is present all around the world.
No matter what part of Italy you decide to visit and regardless of the time of year you visit this coutry, you will certainly enjoy your stay. But, you should know that once you visit Italy you will want to come back there again.
